Delaware Canal State Park (DCNR)

The Delaware Canal and its towpath are part of Delaware Canal State Park, which is owned and managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR)—not Yardley Borough.

While the canal runs through our community and is an important part of Yardley's character, the Borough does not maintain the canal, towpath, locks, bridges, vegetation, or other park infrastructure. Questions about maintenance, trail conditions, flooding impacts to park property, tree concerns, closures, permits, or other issues related to the canal should be directed to DCNR.

Yardley Borough works cooperatively with DCNR on projects and events that affect both the Borough and the State Park, but decisions regarding the operation, maintenance, and management of the Delaware Canal remain the responsibility of DCNR.

For questions regarding the Delaware Canal, including issues related to canal draining, please visit the Current Infrastructure Projects section of the DCNR website.
